Compact cabinet¶
The small ND-100-line cabinet. The longest-lived ND product of all.
| Used from | mid-1980s |
| Type | Cabinet |
| Family | ND-1xx standalone |
| Takes which CPU | Any one ND-1xx CPU board |
| Coprocessor? | No - see 5000 Compact |
The short version¶
A much smaller box for customers who did not need a full rack. Like the large cabinet it takes whichever 1xx CPU board you bought, which is why ND could sell an "ND-100 Compact" and later an "ND-110 Compact" without changing the cabinet.
It has the distinction of carrying the last Norsk Data machine ever delivered: a model 12 went to a customer in August 2001, nine years after the company had ceased to exist.
