The first time, run all the tasks 1-5, one at a time, in sequence.
To reload the server, run tasks 3, 4 and 5. To re-dump the UNIQ-SERVICE program, run task 4. To re-dump the UQSECO RT-program, run task 5.
When selecting the CREATE or COPY option, and an (old) version exists on the selected user area, you are asked if these files should be deleted. You may answer Yes, No or Manually. When answering YES, program files, domain files, .MODE and :LIST files of current and previous versions/revisions will be deleted. Afterwards the program checks if there are enough free pages on the user area.
When selecting the LOAD option, the following question needs an explanation:
LANGUAGE 'Language to be used if UE is not active? /NO/'
By default UNIQUE will use the language found in the user profile in User Environment. The answer to this question selects the language to be used if UE is NOT active on the terminal running UNIQUE.
When selecting the RTLOAD option, the file UQSECO-RTLO-Cxx:MODE is generated, which loads and starts the RT program UQSECO. When starting this RT program the first time, it will give the following message:
--- Ready to operate
--- UQSECO: Context load: *** WARNING No context file found
The program has now created the context file (RT)UQSECO:DATA, which will contain tables of existing servers and jobs that have been ordered. For further information, please see the UNIQUE C10 Release Information manual.
After a successful installation, remember to update the system startup files (HENT-MODE and LOAD-MODE). An example of how to update the LOAD-MODE file is given below:

Include the following commands in the HENT-MODE file
@MODE (ND-OPERATIONS)OEM-OETAD-R-A:MODE,,
@MODE (<server-user>)UQSECO-RTLO-C:MODE,,
@MODE (<server-user>)UQSERV-DUMP-S5-C:MODE,,
You may wish to edit the UQSECO-RTLO-C:MODE and OEM-OETAD-R-A:MODE files and remove the start command, so that the RT programs are not started during cold-start.
4.1.3 Subsequent Installation¶
If at a later date you want to reload or re-dump the server, you can use the installation program that is automatically copied from the floppy disk during the first installation. To re-run the installation program, log in to user area SYSTEM and type:
@(DIALOG-SYS)UQSERV-IN-S1-C~
You may of course also reuse the previously created load/dump procedures. (:MODE).

4.2 Non-Automatic Installation¶
- Copy the files OEM-OETAD-A
:PROG and OEM-OETAD-R-A :MODE to user area ND-OPERATIONS if not already installed. - Run the mode file (ND-OPERATIONS)OEM-OETAD-R-A
:MODE from user SYSTEM to load and start RT-program OETAD (if required). - Create a user area
with the number of pages mentioned in chapter 1.3. The default user area is DIALOG-SYS. Copy the remaining files from the floppy to this user area. - Edit the mode file UQSERV-LOAD1-C:MODE to suit your installation. Run it from user area
to load the UNIQ-SERVICE program. - Run the mode file (
)UQSERV-DUMP-S1-C:MODE from user area SYSTEM to dump UNIQ-SERVICE reentrant. - Run the mode file (DIALOG-SYS)UQSECO-RTLO-C:MODE from user area SYSTEM to load and start RT-program UQSECO.
- Chapter 4.1.2 describes how you should update the system startup files (HENT-MODE and LOAD-MODE).
4.3 Reports from Protected SIBAS Databases¶
The following precautions should be taken in order to allow a server to run reports against a SIBAS database which is protected by password.
-
Create a new SINTRAN user area, e.g. XTRA-SERVER. Access to this user area should be restricted to the main user area of the UE-user which the server TAD will use when logging in (or the SINTRAN user area entered when starting the server on batch).
-
Install a new version of XTRA on this user area. Answer YES to the question whether it should be allowed for users to create a local SW-CONFIG file.
-
Copy the global (ND-OP)SW-CONFIG:SYMB file to the same user area. For each database protected by a password, add the parameter PASSWORD=
to the database description in the file. Make sure that the access rights to this file are NONE for public access.

- The server may then be defined in UNIQ-SERVICE, as described in chapter 1.2.1 of the Unique C10 Release Manual, for example:
Server name: PRIVILEGED
Server type: (XTRA-SERVER)XTRA
...
...
Modifications¶
The manual DIALOGUE-UNIQUE Release Information (ND-860351) provides details about new functions and modifications implemented in revision C10.
Note: There is no official revision C12 of UNIQUE SERVER
5.1 New Functions/Commands¶
Revision C11:
- SET UNAVAILABLE/SET AVAILABLE. This new command allows you to make a server unavailable for new jobs. A job already running on the server will be unaffected by this command.
- COPY: Pressing the COPY-key in the 'Edit jobs' screen will copy the job under the cursor into an order-form.
- DELETE: Delete-all-jobs (SHIFT+F1) deletes all jobs on the current server.
- START: The START-SERVER command is available from the SINTRAN command line, and from mode files. The syntax is:
@UNIQ-SERVICE-C START-SERVER <server_name>
- PERIODIC JOBS: Periodic jobs can now be ordered as described in the manual.

Revision C13:¶
-
STOP: The STOP-SERVER command is available from the SINTRAN command line, and from mode files. The syntax is:
@UNIQ-SERVICE-C STOP-SERVER <server name>The control program UQSECO may be stopped as follows:
@UNIQ-SERVICE-C STOP-CONTROLor
@UNIQ-SERVICE-C ABORT-CONTROL
Revision C14:¶
-
The function EDIT-JOBS is available from the Sintran command-line. The syntax is:
@UNIQ-SERVICE-C <server name>
-
XTRA servers can also be started on batch processes. This is useful if you want more control over the priority of your servers, or if you don't have enough TADs. The service program can only start servers on TADs - use the following method to start them in batch:
-
In the service program, define the name of your server in the "Define local server" form. Example:
+------------------------+ | Server name : XTRA-BATCH | | Server type : XTRA in batch | +------------------------+Only the server name is used, but the service program requires that the server type is not empty. The other fields may be used for comments or left blank.
-
Make a batch file (e.g. (DIALOG-SYS)XTRA-SERVER:BATC) with the following commands. Example:
@ENTER DIALOG-SYS,<password>,<project password>,-1 @XTRA /Xtra-batch &&(The last two characters are ASCII 27, or
+ ).

- Start the server with the following command. Example:
@APPEND-BATCH
BATCH NUMBER: 4
INPUT FILE: (DIALOG-SYS)XTRA-SERVER:BATC
OUTPUT FILE: (DIALOG-SYS)XTRA-SERVER:LIST
and insert the following lines in your (SYSTEM)LOAD-MODE:MODE file after the command to start UQSECO:
@APPEND-BATCH 4
(DIALOG-SYS)XTRA-SERVER:BATC
(DIALOG-SYS)XTRA-SERVER:LIST
- Jobs can now be sent to the server in the normal way. The SINTRAN command
@TERM-STAT (...)will display information on number of records processed for the job currently running.
- Use the service program to stop the server when required.
5.2 Changed Functions/Commands¶
Revision C11:
- SECURITY: Only users defined as system supervisors in User Environment can define and control servers, and delete jobs on servers. These commands have been removed for other users.
- STARTING SERVERS: Improved error reporting when starting servers.
- DEFINE: The 'Define local server' form has been changed.
- Server name is now Server type and vice versa.
So Server name is the name that will be used when ordering reports and Server type is the SINTRAN name of the server program / domain / reentrant system.

Revision C14:¶
- The "Define remote server" form has been changed; the field SERVER NAME is now SERVER TYPE. This conforms with the terms used in the "Define local server" form, modified in rev. C11.
- The control program, UQSECO, and server programs, XTRA, use less machine resources when idle than before.
5.3 Removed Functions/Commands¶
None
5.4 Other Modifications¶
None
6 Errors Corrected¶
Revision C11:¶
- Starting servers, when Sintran ACCOUNTING (using Project Password) was running, failed.
Revision C13/C14:¶
- Even though the correct SW-key diskette was installed, ND customers were not allowed to start the server.
- DATE field on report started by server showed the date the server was started, instead of today's date.

UNIQUE SERVER for ND-110¶
| Product name | Product number |
|---|---|
| UNIQUE SERVER for ND-110 | 211490C |
- The installation program required at least 6 available file entries amongst the first 256 files on user SYSTEM.
- ND-500 only:
After loading UQSERV-2-C13:NRF, the UQSERV-LOAD:LIST file contains several warnings of the following type:
"WARNING: redefinition of
= is ignored."
This has been corrected in revision C14.
7 Errors Known But Not Corrected¶
- Starting servers simultaneously from two different service programs can cause the control program, UQSECO, to crash. To reduce the chances of this happening, start all your servers from the LOAD-MODE file on user SYSTEM (see chap. 4.1.2).
