INTRODUCTION¶
The 5 1/4" Fixed Disk Drives are random access storage devices, using fixed sealed modules as the storage medium. They are designed for high performance and reliability, and require no preventive maintenance. The disk drives are mounted either vertically or horizontally in one half the amount of space which is required for an eight-inch flexible disk drive. The disk drives are mounted in the Satellite and Compact systems.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION¶
All disks are located in an environmentally sealed chamber. No unfiltered outside air is drawn into the unit. Air is recirculated within the disk/actuator chamber and passes through a filter to ensure a contamination-free environment. A rotary voice-coil actuator provides rapid access and positioning accuracy. The disk drives can be configured with up to two drives in a daisy-chain configuration on the ND 106310 disk controller.
