Introduction¶

The CAD workstation TWS-12 is a multi-functional device offering high resolution, full colour graphics for CAD/CAM combined with a PC-based office workstation for use in advanced word processing and technical documentation.

Product Description¶

The TECHNOVISION system supports a wide range of workstations, each designed to meet specific functional and price/performance requirements. NORSK DATA (ND) gives the best possible support to its users by offering a very high standard of functionality and ergonomics.

The ND CAD workstation TWS-12 is fully configured for use with TECHNOVISION, retaining the now familiar "one hand" operation of tablet and pen to access the user interface. The workstation is also fully able to support the very latest ND-NOTIS Office Support products, including NOTIS-PET for technical publications.

The heart of the ND TWS-12 is an Intel 80286, 8 MHz Microprocessor with 512 Kbyte RAM, 1.2 Mbyte Floppy Disc and 40 Mbyte Hard Disc. The Floppy can also read 360 Kbyte discs from any other IBM or compatible system.

The ND TWS-12 is delivered with the Microsoft MS-DOS operating system running MS-WINDOWS. The Desk Top Manager from ND is a powerful system offering NOTIS-WP Word Processing and NOTIS-PET Page Editor Tool at the workstation. A Terminal Emulation feature allows the TWS-12 to function as a terminal connected to any ND computer, providing access to all other ND products in the NOTIS, DIALOGUE and TECHNOVISION ranges.

Full TECHNOVISION workstation functionality is provided on the ND TWS-12 by the addition of a powerful graphic processor card, 19" colour monitor, tablet and pen with menu card set and TV-PC/VWS graphic software package.

The graphic processor card offers 1024 x 768 x 4 bit-plane resolution with 16 colours available from a palette of 256. The TWS-12's fast processing and vector drawing speed gives a high level of performance as a medium cost CAD/CAM workstation. The TWS-12 can be connected to a single asynchronous port running up to 19.2 Kbaud.

ND 110277 can be used with the complete TECHNOVISION software family. Each workstation requires a single standard terminal port RS232, maximum 19200. Specify communication speed when ordering.
