INTRODUCTION¶

The ND 110041 fixed disk drive is a sealed-module, 8-inch rigid disk drive that uses state-of-the-art “thin-film” head technology. The ND 110041 provides 288 Megabytes of formatted storage. The drive’s characteristics include 18 milliseconds average seek time and approximately 200 watts power consumption. A directly coupled, DC brushless drive motor and universal power supply permit worldwide use of the ND 110041 disk drive.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION¶

The ND 110041, Eight-inch Module Drive (EMD), is a 3600 rpm, 14.52 Mhz transfer rate, random access, fixed-media disk drive. This drive consists of six oxide-coated disks in a sealed module, thin-film head, a directly coupled DC brushless motor, universal power supply and DC cooling fan.

Fast access to data and accurate head positioning are ensured by a high-performance, balanced rotary coil actuator and a dedicated servo surface, respectively.

The logic package consists of eight custom LSI chips and three microprocessors on three printed circuit boards.
